The Lomonossow University
That's the official University of Moscow and it's the biggest Uni I ever saw. The building was constructed in the Stalin era and is one of seven. They are all small cities in themselves. We tried to get up on the main tower but we got lost in the building - several times! Dozens of floors and wings, some of them being completely forgotten, dark and spooky. Anyway, it's also the place we had our quarters in =). |
Moscow's White House
Yep, the Russians have one too. A White House. It lies directly at the river Moscow. The inscription says: "House of the government of the Russian Federation". The Russian student who did the tour guide for us showed us the place where the tank had stood and had fired at the building. And he showed us the self-made memorials of the victims from 91's revolution. |
The Red Square
I remember the times I saw the Red Square on tv, mostly on May 1st seeing the marching troops and such. It was quite impressive back then. When I stood there it was a really weird feeling, it was then when I realized that I was in Moscow, the core of the former Soviet Union. We heard so much about it in school. So, I wrote a postcard to my Russian teacher. I hope, she got it. The pictures show the Kreml from this side, the Spasky Tower, the Lenin Mausoleum, the Cathedral of St. Basil the Blessed (the one with the onion-like towers) and the GUM (most famous shopping center in Moscow). You know, it isn't as impressiv as on tv. It's smaller and it's not even. And there are lots of tourists. |
